The digital device that has lasted me the longest
By far, the electronic device that has lasted me the longest is my “Kindle Keyboard”. Bought back in 2011 while I was still in college, it has seen all kinds of transitions in my life.
Unlike other electronic devices, over the years I haven’t really missed any features from newer models (deep down, I only want it for reading), and it still does its job perfectly.
Over time, a few cracks have appeared on the casing, and I had to replace the battery once it became unusable, but honestly the only thing that truly annoys me is having to dig out an ancient micro-USB cable to charge it every now and then.
It would be nice to have one of those with a color screen for reading comics or graphic novels, maybe even stylus support for taking notes, but realistically I’d use those features less than 5% of the time compared to simply reading.
I think it’ll be hard for any of my other devices to outlast this one. Let’s see how much longer it keeps going!
